Hello, my name is Robin Riley
You've known me as Josh, or Joshua Riley Simmons, and there's a lot I don't know yet, but there's no sense in delaying with what I do know:
Hi, my name is Robin and I'm trans. I'll be going by Robin Riley, and using they/them pronouns for the foreseeable future.
And it's going to take time to update my info everywhere, so please bear with me. Indeed, I'm making this post about 3.5 weeks after I first came out in public, because it's taken time to migrate my blog and other bits to a new domain name that aligns with my chosen name.
I've been an out and proud queer (bi pride!) since 2008, and I've come to understand that I'm genderqueer, too. Agender, I think? Nonbinary, probably. Changing my name and pronouns is part of aligning with this understanding, and making room for more self-actualization by reducing dysphoria.
I don't know where this journey will take me exactly, but I don't want to live inauthentically even a single day longer than necessary.
I'm very, very happy to be finding more of myself, but truly – it's a bit overwhelming. Don't hesitate to reach out if you want to connect, but please do be patient with me.
PS. A point of information for those who subscribed to my newsletter back in 2023: as part of migrating to my new domain name, I've merged my blog and newsletter to reduce overhead. I completely understand if you decide to unsubscribe! No hard feelings.
